Community Announcements Service

View the Community Announcements Service

The Community Announcements Service reaches over 900 organizations and individuals in the City of Hamilton and beyond. Registered subscribers are notified about each new announcement by email. Other regular readers are notified using the RSS news feed available on this site.

You can check the Community Announcement Board regularly for new postings by visiting the site, you can subscribe to the service by providing your email address in the email notification subscription box on the page or you can set up to receive an RSS feed.

If you choose to subscribe, you will receive an email with instructions on how to confirm your subscription. Be sure to click on the link as instructed in the confirmation message to complete the subscription process.

Subscription to the Community Announcement Service is free and open to everyone.

Subscribers to the Service will receive regular email notifications with brief descriptive headlines and a link to each new announcement. Based on the headline and summary in the link location, you can decide whether to view the file. You can also chose to print the .pdf file, save it to a location on your computer, or send it by email to someone else who would be interested in the information.

    for any of the following:

    • Make arrangements to use the announcements service to distribute a document
    • Find out about the scheduling and billing process
    • Obtain information about how to subscribe to email notification of new announcements and/or subscribe to RSS feed.
    • Obtain information about acceptable formats and content

    The following criteria for users of the announcements service are in effect:
    1. Information to be distributed should be of general interest to the recipients and relate to the sending organization's non-profit/service/charitable mandate related to human services

    2. Materials must be politically non-partisan and conform to the CIH policy of anti-racism and non-discrimination. In most circumstances, commercial advertising materials will not be distributed unless the announcement is directly related to human services activities.

    3. It is recommended that materials should have minimal “ink-gobbling” graphics and make efficient use of paper out of consideration to those who wish to print the announcement.

    4. The preferred format for announcements is Microsoft Word (.doc) or portable document format (.pdf). Contact the Service to inquire about using other formats. (905-528-8127)

    5. It is requested that announcements be sent as attachments to an email ( cas@cishw.on.ca) with instructions included in the email about billing and preferred posting schedule.

    6. Recommended maximum size of any announcement is four pages.

    7. CIS reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to decline distribution through the Community Announcements Service of materials that do not comply with the stated criteria.
